The light behind stolen as you fell
All your friends left before your time

Because you did not know how to cope

Why embrace the dark?

You seem to want the cloud to burst
And violent rain fall down to smite
You can’t think twice if you don’t think first
Nobody ever said we were right
Your icy heart holds no memories
But they’ll return when you get your soul
You can still be what you want to be
Embrace the light and once more be whole

A Stranger to Me 2.0
Using the spare key that I had been given, I unlock the door to my brother's apartment and slide it open a hair. "Alex?" I inquire in a soft voice while peaking tentatively inside. An uneasy silence is the only response.
Deeming apartment 186 clear of its resident, I tiptoe inside and close the door behind me without a noise save the soft click of the latch. Still, as I walk through the apartment and into Alex's room, an unshakeable trepidation wells up inside me.

Waking After a Long Night
The bruise of night’s parade slowly begins to fade.
While a new herald rises in the east to quell the beast.
Fevers brought upon by nightmares before the dawn
Are gently wiped away by the warmth of the coming day.
All the fears of the night are quickly put to flight
As the songbirds begin to sing of a bright and beautiful thing.
In time the marks will go until nothing but scars will show
And the memory of the night will disappear into the light.

with gasping willow bones you entered a world that simply isn't ready for you- oh darling, you are new, perfect in each utterance that you invent for my ears.
you are tucked, hidden in my bones, tiny cheeks hollowed out to hold my soul, and already you know fear. my heart aches and your lips quiver in a pain that i cannot take away. in a breath i have already drawn blue prints to rip open the seams and peel back the edges to keep you safe again.
